Lisa and Melissa's India Trek

I am taking part in the India Challenge Trek in September 2013 to give a hand up to women living in poverty in India.

About the cause

The two of us are embarking on a challenging adventure that will take us way out of our comfort zone into foreign territory for an amazing charity.

We have joined a group of inspiring, like-minded women to take part in the Opportunity International five day India Challenge Trek this September. We will climb the Himalayas at extremely high altitude around Ladakh, coming face to face with untouched cultures in the scenic grandeur of their homelands perched high in the mountains.

We will also meet local Indian women and their families in Delhi and see for ourselves how donations are deployed in the form of micro loans. These small loans, down to as little as $100, help women in this area by helping them grow their businesses. This enables women to earn their own income and afford food, water, shelter and education for their children. Most importantly, because they are in business, they are able to sustain a lifestyle out of poverty.

We hope you are willing and able to get behind us on this and support our mission. Our group, has set a goal to raise over $30,000, which will give a hand to at least 525 micro finance clients living in poverty, impacting the lives of around 2,625 family members.
